Kefalotyri

Kefalotyri

Kefalotyri is a type of hard Greek cheese with a salty and slightly sweet taste.

Kefalotyri is made from the fresh milk of sheep and goat milk. This cheese is ideal for grilled or fried dishes as it does not melt too quickly.

Kefalotyri originally comes from the island of Kefalonia and is comparable to the Italian Pecorino. Today it is an integral part of Greek cuisine and is used (along with feta) to make the saganaki starter.
